This policy explains how SafeMom LLC handles consumer health data, as Washington's My Health My Data Act defines it, in the SafeMom app. It adds to our App Privacy Policy; where the two differ for consumer health data, this policy applies.
If you choose to verify your ID: photos of your government ID, a short selfie, and a scan of your face geometry used to compare them. Our service provider Persona collects and holds this for us; SafeMom receives only the result of the check and its dates.
SafeMom does not ask for health information. If you choose to mention something about your health or a pregnancy in a post, message or report, it is handled like the rest of your content, as the App Privacy Policy describes, and shown only to the people you share it with.
Only to confirm that your ID is genuine and that you are the person shown on it, so we can show your Verified badge, let you join groups that ask for a verified ID and, if you switch it on, let your emergency alerts reach verified members nearby.
Directly from you, through Persona's verification page, which SafeMom opens when you choose to verify.
Persona, which processes verification data on our instructions as our service provider. We do not sell consumer health data, we do not share it with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.
You can find out whether we collect or share your consumer health data and get a list of everyone we share it with; withdraw your consent; and ask us to delete it. Email privacy@safemom.org, or delete your account in the app (Settings, then Delete account). We answer within 45 days. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; we will tell you the result of the appeal and how to contact the Washington Attorney General.
